Aaron Neal is an assistant professor in the School of Interior Architecture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Prior to joining the faculty, he taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Interior Architecture from Auburn University and a Master of Arts in Adaptive Reuse as a Presidential Fellow from the Rhode Island ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. His research explores how adaptive reuse and trauma-informed design can serve as design methodologies to improve health and well-being in the built environment. Through community-engaged frameworks, Aaron advocates for underserved communities by addressing trauma through the identification of remnants, which he defines as physical or ideological artifacts that still have a significant impact on a present-day community.
